And Now For The Following CNN Entertainment Headline.
After fourteen seasons and twenty-two Emmys, the popular medical drama E.R. is planning its final episodes which will air next February, prompting Bossy to say, “Wait—E.R. is still on?”
It’s been many years since Bossy watched this show—but in case you’ve never seen it, here is everything you need to know:
He is a doctor, and his name is George Clooney. He dates a curly-headed girl named Carol, even though it’s not her head that’s curly, it’s her hair:
And then there’s this guy:
He’s Dr. John Carter, and at first he was snot-nosed from a wealthy family, but then he was snot-nosed from a heroin addiction, except no one knew he was a heroin addict even though his skin was slowly turning grey, and he was accidentally killing patients.
Dr. John Carter dated lots of girls, kind of like Bossy’??s husband before they were married. Other similarities between young Bossy’s husband and Dr. John Carter: they look alike.
Next we have her:
She’s Dr. Kerry Weaver, even though Bossy thought her name was Cary until two seconds ago. What makes Cary Kerry a unique television character is the fact that she walks with the aid of a leg brace and crutch due to her physical disability. Unless the actress Laura Innes walks with the aid of a leg brace and crutch, in which case there is nothing unique about Dr. Kerry Weaver.
Which finally leads us to him:
He’s from Top Gun.
Every Thursday at 10 p.m. these doctors save lives while flirting over patient deathbeds. The end.
I suddenly feel the need…the need for speed.
What’s really sad, is I don’t think a one of those people are still on the show. I adored it when it first came on. But it should have stopped long ago. Like 6 years at least.
That does sum up ER, lots of doctors flirting over other peoples death beds…..I would feel guilty planning my life while i am right there seeing someone die

well now. i have learned everything i ever needed to know about er – season one. i am pretty sure they added a character or two or 17 since then, but since i have been out of the country for the last 6 years and in complete toddler mode before that i have no clue! thanks for the recap!
I was a devoted fan of that show. Then George left. Then Anthony left. Then Eriq left. My interest waned. Then they did that whole Carter-in-Africa thing and my interest waned morer. Then Carter left and I gave up.
But then John Stamos…Mmmmm…John Stamos. Yummy. So I tuned in again. Then the story lines were outrageous so I tuned out.
Loved the show, really. But YOU JUMPED THE SHARK SIX YEARS AGO, FOLKS! CALL TIME OF DEATH!

Well, I guess there is absolutely no doubt left that BOSSY’S Husband is indeed the father of BOSSY’S Son. The likeness is almost scary.

Umm.. Dr Green from Top Gun died several seasons ago and Madness CRIED LIKE A BITCH. And John Carter left, so did Doug Ross. Hey Bossy… ummm.. yeah. Bossy stopped watching a looooong time ago. (So did Madness but thats just because Madness cant stay AWAKE past 8:00 pm anymore)
I had to stop watching after Goose died. Too much trama in the ER for me.

I stopped watching it a year ago or so. Kerry eventually came out of the closet, had a baby with her lesbian girlfriend, who subsequently died in a fire, then had her leg fixed and eventually left to direct.
After that? Who cares. How can you top that?
I’m sorry. Everything after the first picture is a blur.
Ah, the good “olden days” of ER – the only ones I watched/cared about. House is my new ER.

i finally stopped watching this season when my dvr decided for me that ER was no longer a high pririty show and just stopped recording it (too bad cause john stamos is lookin gooood).

I stopped watching when a helicopter blade chopped off a surgeon’s arm. That was so gross and disturbing, and I wasn’t prepared, and I said goodbye to ER forever. I now watch HOUSE:MD, but I am worried they’re already running out of story on that one.
P.S. My dad is a doctor and he is kind of picky about the medical shows. He likes House. (The show, not the character.) He liked ER for the first few years.

Bossy’s husband does look like Noah Wylie. I watched videotaped episodes of E.R and Chicago Hope with my mom when I was in labor with Danger Boy . . . Yes, the George Clooney days were the best.

I was a fan the first few seasons until they started dropping the original cast like flys.
Now, I’m with the “ER’s still on?” crowd.
That show is so 5 years ago. I think the death after the death of ER came when Grey’s Anatomy popped up. Sorry, McDreamy wins vs the scrubs (pun inteded) that are now on ER.
And wow, Bossy is a lucky girl to have such fine looking men in her life!

ER is still on? Oh sure, and I suppose you’re going to tell me Abe Vigoda is still alive.
Every time my daughter or I see ads for “new ER episodes” we both ask, “It’s still on?” I used to watch reruns until I stopped knowing anyone who is on it anymore. Oh, and my son’s name is Noah which my best friend immediately said, “Oh, like Noah Wiley on ER?” Yes, yes, exactly like that….not.
So basically it’s Grey’s Anatomy with an older, slightly less hot cast?
I think the show had lighting problems. The hospital scenes were all “my eyes! my eyes! Turn down the glare!” while the scenes in the palatial apartments were darker than medieval dungeons. No wonder they were all so damned depressed and addicted to stuff.
I haven’t watched ER since Top Gun guy left.
And I always thought her name was Carrie.
But wait, Bossy! You forgot the part about them working in the most dangerous hospital in the world where no one would want to be taken because there is always a deadly virus outbreak, shooting, train derailment, impalement, bomb scare, poisonous spiders running rampant (I’m just guessing on that one) and other nasty things in every. single. friggin’. episode.
I think patients would be safer bleeding on the street.
Back THEN I used to watch every week!! The decline of ER was MP’s decline of watching NBC..
I hearted all three of those doctors VERY much..
ER finally ending is kind like a really really sick relative that has been hanging on to life for so long and you feel for them and admire them for not giving up but in the end your kind of glad for everyone when it’s finally over.
Number 1 – That is the CUTEST picture ever of mr. bossy
Number 2 – The Cary-Kerry thing is like the Mary, Merry and Marry thing. Some people pronounce them all THE SAME! I thought her name was Carrie. Oh well. I haven’t watched in years so I won’t miss it when it’s gone.

I began watching when Smirky Clooney was on. I stopped watching after Tony Edwards left. That whole brain tumor deal was torture.
I read that Noah Wyle’s character was one of the main reasons the name “Noah” got so popular for boys. Okay, but then why not “George”?

Oh I know, I thought the same thing about it still being on tv. You never see an ER commercial any more. I stopped watching when they killed Dr. Green off.

My 19 year old watches the show in the mornings when she doesn’t have to work or go to class. As if it’s a brand new series, or something.

I didn’t think so…maybe he could be : TAFKAG (The Actor Formally Known As Goose) I just SEE him and want to be Meg Ryan crying my eyes out with Tom Cruise (w/out Katie) next to me…consoling me…going to save the world because Goose died…and then Val Kilmer will rush on screen and say “Meg…don’t mourn, I”M here to comfort you…” and then I will go buy a vineyard in France with Kevin Kline…or was it Calvin?

I thought it had been canceled too. I had a similar moment the other day when someone was telling me Ben (Bueller, Bueller) Stein was interviewed somewhere, and I was all, “That guy’s still alive?”
WOW!! I’m almost speechless. I’ve watched ER since it began … way back when! Almost breaks my heart to know it’s coming to an end … I can honestly say I didn’t see this one coming
Can you believe I have NEVER seen this show? Truth.
New E.R. has Linda Cardellini as a nurse, you might remember her as Velma from those god-awful live action Scooby Doo movies. She was also in “Legally Blonde”.
It also has Maura Tierney from NewsRadio as nurse-then doctor-then nurse-and now doctor again Abbey, who is a recovering alcoholic and is married to hottie Doctor Kovac (the cute Goran Visjnic). Sally Field played her Mom on the show a few seasons ago too.
Other than that and Stamos, I don’t really pay attention. It’s time for it to end.
You forgot to mention that Kerry is gay and that the cute-shaggy-look-a-like-to-your-even-cuter-hubby redeemed himself by going to Darfur…

ER was always on between two of my classes in college. I would eat my lunch while watching ER, and then sit in Modern British Fiction wondering if I was going to be involved in some horrible trauma when I least expected it.
This is why every TV show should have a living will.
Never got into any of those medical soaps ever since Dr. Kildare broke my heart.
The upside of ER getting canceled means all those actors are free to go on Dancing With the Stars….which I wll gladly watch.
And all of those actors left the show along time ago – before it jumped the shark.

….except now there are all new characters because those characters were on the show when it first appeared 25 years and 9564 episodes ago. But now they have John Stamos so it is all better.
Has a friggin meteor crashed into the ER yet? Because every time I see some kind of preview for the coming episode, something terribly horribly hideously awful is befalling either the actual ER or its doctors or its patients, ya know, like a tornado or flash flood (through the ER) or a helicopter crash into the ER or someone pointing a gun (I swear every episode has a guy with a gun or bomb)…just all this crazy outlandish stuff that would never in a million years ever happen in real life all the time to the same damn ER filled with luscious doctors.
And yes, my favorite show is Lost. I’m really consistent, I know.
