Bossy Will Have One Inderal And A Side Of Inderal.
When last we saw Bossy she was suffering silently from heart palpitations and a low-grade fever. Because it was right before the weekend, Bossy decided she should make an appointment with her esteemed Cardiologist– because the doctor’s office loves when you do that on a Friday afternoon.
Lucky for Bossy she secured an appointment right away, because Bossy has a preexisting medical condition she likes to call D-a-d. Raise your hand if you knew Bossy’s father was a heart doctor:
And he isn’t just a heart doctor, he’s A Heart Doctor with heart, the best in the business. For instance the Surgeon General used to be his patient. Other famous patients: Ben Franklin. *
And so after lunch, Bossy and her husband climbed into their car to travel the twenty minutes toward her dad’s office, which given the gorgeous weather was a very relaxing drive:
Bossy’s father works in a group with other cardiologists in a very prestigious office building in the city:
In no time at all Bossy and her husband were situated in the waiting room:
Bossy decided to wander over to the reading rack to get caught up with the latest happenings in this week’s Tiger Beat magazine:
But before she could finish the article about The Cruelest Funeral Scams, Bossy was called into her dad’s exam room:
Next Bossy’s dad took Bossy’s blood pressure and he took an EKG and he listened to her complaining lungs and he listened to her heart. And of course Bossy was completely normal because there is a fascinating physiological event that occurs whenever Bossy visits her father in his office:
So just to make certain, Bossy underwent a Treadmill Stress Test and an Echocardiogram. Both were normal. Which means Bossy has Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome mixed with Perimenopause mixed with Hypoglycemia is actually going to be fine.
But until she rids herself of the low-grade fever associated with her Pulmonary Embolism common virus, she’ll be taking two Inderal tablets a day.
* Bossy isn’t just being cruel, her dad’s patient was a successful actor who most often portrayed Ben Franklin.

Aw! How sweet that your dad is your doc. But, does he make you change into a gown? That would be a little weird.
Oh for crying out loud. Every time something happens to me, it’s blamed on perimenopause. So, now when I don’t do the dishes, that’s what I blame it on.
“I can’t scrape gunk off the plates! I’m in perimenopause!”
Poor Bossy. I’m sure you’re not entirely convinced it isn’t an embolism. Gee, just reading your posts makes me think I might have one. I’ll have to go look it up. But good thing for us (and isn’t that what matters?), you’re still roaring funny when you’re sick!
Can you imagine how long Bossy would wait for an appointment if Bossy’s dad wasn’t a doctor?
I don’t have heart problems but I’m making an appointment with the hopes of seeing the doctor sometime in 2012. I like to plan ahead like that.

Bossy makes even hypochondria funny – I especially like the embolism idea – am certain I might have one too!

Oh, if only my dad were a cardiologist. I have heart palps every freaking day and I always think I’ll be one of those sudden death cases whose family later says, “Well, she was complaining of heart palpitations. Perhaps we should’ve taken her seriously this time.”

I never hesitate to take my kids to the doctor; spending time and money to see the doctor = cure. Whatever works!

I know what you’re going through. Last week I had flesh-eating disease, but I got over it. Yesterday I was pretty sure it was the ebola virus, but it got better. Sometimes all you have to do is threaten those germs with medical intervention, and they shove off.

I have the same pre-existing condition called D-A-D, only my dad is not a cardiolgist, he is a minister and part-time counselor/Jungian dream analyst. Good times.
I think Bossy and my sister have a lot in common, altho our dad is not a doc. Also? I can totally sympathize with feeling fine at the actual doctors office. Sometimes I wonder if I shouldn’t even make an appointment, just walk in the building…
any chance you could get your Dad to do a blog? Not only does he look so sweet and kind, but I bet he has some stories to tell…

Wow! Your dad does look kinda like Morgan Freeman! I told a friend of mine once that he looked like John Cryer (’cause he SO does) and he said it was impossible cause JC’s white and my friend is black. See!?!? It’s possible! BOSSY proved it for me

I had the same pre-existing condition called D-A-D, only my dad was a pediatric oncologist and I never had cancer, so everything he ever diagnosed me with, including missing my cardiomyopathy was wrong. And he was a very famous doctor with famous patients, too. As in celebrity patients because he practiced at UCLA.
I’m glad your heart is OK because if you didn’t do the road trip due to illness I would sulk and stamp my feet and probably throw a big giant tantrum!
When I go to see my cardiologist, I’m the youngest patient by 40 years, and I have gray hair too!

Bossy’s drugs do not work well with Bossy’s cocktails..from the internets:
Do not stop taking Inderal without first talking to your doctor. Stopping suddenly may make your condition worse.
• If you need to have any type of surgery, you may need to temporarily stop using Inderal. Be sure the surgeon knows ahead of time that you are using Inderal.
• Inderal can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert.
• Avoid drinking alcohol, which could increase drowsiness and dizziness while you are taking Inderal.
• Inderal is only part of a complete program of treatment for hypertension that may also include diet, exercise, and weight control. Follow your diet, medication, and exercise routines very closely if you are being treated for hypertension.
• Hypertension often has no symptoms, so you may not even feel that you have high blood pressure. Continue using this medicine as directed, even if you feel well. You may need to use blood pressure medication for the rest of your life.
Hmmmm… if the pills don’t look the same or have the big I perhaps Bossy’s dad knows his daughter too well and prescribed a placebo (so it would not interfere with Bossy’s drinking regimen?

Whatever you do, don’t tune into the show, “Mystery Diagnosis.” Because, inevitably, you will find that you have MANY of the same symptoms OF the mystery illnesses.

Thank God you were well enough to take along your camera. That gave me hope for your future condition. One of my mindless college summer jobs was doing EKGs and I really didn’t understand them very well, but I can say that your office EKG is quite an anomaly.

Careful with the Inderal. I had night terrors and nighttime hallucinations that lasted for, oh, a decade after taking it for only a couple of months.
