The Week In Review. Otherwise Known As Cleaning Off The Desktop
You are looking at the house directly across the street from Bossy’s mom’s house. Bossy has been staring at this house a lot this week, because Bossy and her mom have been sunning themselves on her porch steps like lizards in the unseasonably warm East Coast weather.
One of the reasons Bossy was sunning herself instead of, say, securing sponsorships for her upcoming (No) Book Tour, or raking her garden beds, or vacuuming dog hair, or collecting material for more interesting blog posts is because Bossy is still recovering from her recent leg surgery.
The above is the first page of images that appear when Bossy googles blood clot — which just happens to be the reason Bossy is having difficulty recovering from her surgery. In fact Bossy is currently sporting four blood clots!
You are looking at a blood clot. Or maybe you’re looking at a bunch of cherry lozenges railing toward the back of Bossy’s throat. Perhaps Bossy should use a different picture to explain:
Most blood clots are fairly gelatinous and are reabsorbed by the body very quickly, but Bossy’s clots are special because her clots are organized, which means they form into rock-hard masses that live directly under the skin and are extremely sensitive. But only when Bossy is walking. Or standing. Or moving or sitting or working or sleeping.
Anyway. Back to Bossy’s mom’s house and her front porch steps and Bossy sunning herself like a lizard in the temperate conditions:
Living in the house across the street is a family with three toddler boys. Let’s get a closer look:
And it just so happens that these three toddlers are triplets. Except Bossy’s mom can never think of that term, so she calls them The Three Twins.
Sorry about your painful tires mixed with road trash and chicken wire… I hope your lizard self will be safe!

I think that when Bossy’s clots go away she should take her painting skills over to the three twins’ house.
So there I was innocently eating my breakfast while reading a couple of blogs. I went from, “oh, I wonder if Bossy is going to talk about that haystack in front of her mother’s house,” to “ewwww, gelatinous blood clots”.

Bossy’s council is very pleased to see that the aforementioned blood clots have not affected Bossy’s sense of humor, yet we’re most concerned. Feel better now, we command. And for Bossy’s mom’s sake, we’re also commanding leaves to appear on that big tree.
Here in Marin County California, we have Three Twins Ice Cream (brothers and one wife). They make a bittersweet chocolate that is divine.
Platelets and Twinlets.
It almost sounds like the makings of a country song:
Can’t believe my bad luck,
I’m driving in my truck,
Have to go sell some platelets
To pay for my twinlets.

OK, you had me at the chicken wire! Your council applauds you heartily for posting throughout all that surgery and compression stocking pain! Bossy’s mother’s sunny steps are good medicine.
The only thing I know about blood clots is that you must sit with your leg(s) elevated most of the time. A recliner is best. And with all of that sitting you’ll need extra red wine and chocolate and strawberries and blueberries and walnuts to keep that heart healthy. Feel free to call me for more helpful advice. I’m so sorry to hear about your blood clots! I had one of those in my calf after my knee injury and it was SOOO painful. Left me with months of shots, blood thinners and daily blood draws. Ick. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone!
Better fortify yourself with still more wine. Maybe it’ll confuse those organized wads of chicken wire, et al. You should be a med school teacher: I’m sure that would help the students grasp clots better than technical jargon. I know I loved it.

It’s official – I’m never going to have varicose vein surgery. I’ll just muddle through with the blue snakes that inhabit my legs and call it good enough. Clots scare the beejeez out of me.
Please, Please, PLEASE take care of yourself and let your mom pamper you and stuff. Here’s to a speedy and complete recovery.

If it Bossy you feel any better, the woman I live with – aka G’ma – also has bitchy, mean, ORGANIZED blood clots sometimes and she says they hurt like deep, mean bruises.

Blood clots stink! BOO!
I worked with a Chinese-American guy in Honolulu whose mother, completely unaided by fertility drugs, delivered TWO sets of twins and ONE set of triplets… ALL BOYS. And then her last kid was a single, a girl. Can you imagine? Me neither. Bossy, please get well soon! I am so sad for your poor gams. Can’t you lure those clots into disorganization with a cocktail or two?
Totally off subject, but I believe Bossy needs these http://tomandlorenzo2.blogspot.com/2010/03/just-so-you-know-t-and-lo-both-have.html for the next Barbie Theater. Only I’m afraid the Bossy Barbie will be locked behind closed doors with the Slattery Ken and very little theater would be had.
Not to be a total downer, but if I found out some random lady across the street was taking pictures of my kids and posting them on the internet, I’d be a little upset.
They’re blurry, yes, but still.
(I’m a bit of a spaz about things like that.)
Oh rats….I’ve had to be away from the internet for a few days and I come back and you are at your Mom’s and laying around on the front porch thinking it is warm while clearly there is snow by that sign! I was all ready to kid you about your mummy wrapped legs, but now I can’t because that would just be mean.
Hope you are much better soon. I tried to look at the picture of the three twins, but would have had to find my info from Flickr and who knows where that is, but one of those kids looks smaller and darker than the other two. You may be right about the twin thing. If I find my Flikr info I’ll look closer. There is nothing worse than an old lady with nothing to do but try to figure out the children in internet pictures. I’m thinking helenel doesn’t have to worry much about your picture and porn people getting the kid’s image and tracking them down to your mom’s house and kidnapping them. I don’t think so..would they? I don’t post pictures of my kids or my grandson on my blog. Someone might recognize the kids and find out more than I’m willing for them to know. The grandson..well, it just ain’t gunna happen that his image goes into cyberspace from my computer.
Hope you feel better soon…maybe some lemonade would be good. Better is Wal-mart’s no sugar cherry drink mix. Oh, I do love it. What does your dad say about the wine and the clots and the whole shebang?

Oh my! I know those clots can be very painful. Mom had them alot, and Dad had to give her the injections in her belly. Also had the coumadin pills, and the blood draws to see if the blood was too thick or too thin and the phone calls from the clinic telling her to take 1/2 pill tonite, and two pills tomorrow, or take a pill tonite and 1/2 the rest of the week, or…..it changed constantly and I thought that was too much for 80 year olds to manage.
Anyhoo….be well, Bossy. Keep that foot elevated. Did they tell you to use warm compresses? Blood clots are nothing to mess around with. Do whatever the doctor tells you to do!
I recently had knee surgery and subsequently developed blood clots not unlike yours.
It’s nothing but painful and annoying.
I’m sorry you have them too.
