The Marilyn Monroe Documentary That Lied

This past Monday Bossy watched a documentary about Marilyn Monroe — and no, Bossy wasn’t watching TV in the middle of the day! Because Bossy was watching Netflix in the middle of the day!

Bossy was so excited to see this 2012 documentary, entitled Marilyn in Manhattan, due to its compelling description:

This documentary about Marilyn Monroe’s last days is filled with stories told by people who’ve spoken for the first time about a Marilyn “conspiracy.”

Well. The first new thing Bossy learned from the documentary was that Marilyn Monroe’s name was Norma Jean, and she was in and out of foster homes as a child.

The next new thing Bossy learned was that Marilyn spent her career chasing legitimacy by taking Method Acting classes:

The next thing Bossy learned was that Marilyn fell in love with Arthur Miller:

The next new thing Bossy learned from the documentary was that there were never before seen photos of the Monroe-Miller wedding — images not available anywhere else!

And lastly Bossy “learned” that in the end of Marilyn Monroe’s days, she needed pills to sleep and pills to wake up.

Olivia thinks perhaps her eldest son could answer that question because he has a conspiracy theory about everything . . . Olivia thinks he might even consider his birth a conspiracy.

So, tell us, where was the conspiracy? We need to know (without taking time to watch the show ourselves)

The conspiracy was all explained in the movie you just weren’t looking hard enough. If you’re looking for it you’ll always find a conspiracy.

The conspiracy was that I was kept from ever meeting Arthur Miller.
