Bossy’s Excellent Road Trip. Day Four-ish.
This photo was taken in a Rest Area in the middle of Florida, and it features Spanish Moss.
Other things it features: Bossy’s new sunglasses that she had to buy at a CVS pharmacy on the way out of Orlando because she left her old sunglasses in a restaurant. The expensive sunglasses Bossy purchased in New York City six years ago that came with a case and a flannel cloth, the sunglasses she loved like a first-born. No biggie.
Now she has these sunglasses, and the great thing about these sunglasses is they manage to both rest uncomfortably on her cheeks and pinch the area between her eyes.
Anyway. Bossy’s Orlando experience was great and more details will follow—such as a celebrity look-alike game—but right now Bossy is off to meet with her Tallahassee friends. She promises to post more Orlando and Tallahassee details tomorrow, when she is busy walking around New Orleans.

Bossy looks fabulous and I’m glad to see that the scarf is gone. I was worried that you had a Frankenstein bolt in your neck or something you were trying to cover up! Can’t wait to hear about Tallahassee and I hope you went to the Keg and had a few brewskis for me. I was there, a student at FSU, probably before you were born!!

Owch! You lost your sunglasses at the restaurant? Ack! I’ve done that…ONCE. That’s all it takes, so consider yourself lucky. Unless you’ve lost more than one pair of sunglasses. Then it just means you’re losing your mind.

Weird – I am now in Jacksonville and I just tonight learned what Spanish moss is. And there it is in your photo. Glad the trip is going well… sorry about your sunglasses. Really enjoying the updates. Hope all is going smoothly!
I too am relieved that the scarf is gone. Folks in the Florida might think you are an alien or hiding a bolt in you neck…not me though, I would think you were hiding a hicky.

The best thing about Bossy’s new sunglasses is that they TOTALLY look like Florida State Trooper mirrored sunglasses, and if she wanted to pose as FST for giggles, she could easily do so. But without the earrings.

oooh. coveted sunglasses. In a case with flannel. They sound suspiciously like Maui Jim sunglasses. I lost mine too in FL. In Disneyworld actually. AND SOMEONE TURNED THEM IN TO LOST AND FREAKING FOUND!! Can you beleive it? Did you at least call? Maybe those mauis or maui-likes have good kharma.

operagal in Michigan is jealous – people who wear corrective lenses and can’t get contacts are very jealous of you sunglass-wearing folks.
We just get to squint, or shell out *another* $400 for prescription lenses.

before you leave Florida, you should really try to get to the Burt Reynolds Dinner theater and catch the production of “Far Tin Thru Silk”. It’s a wonderful play and a lovely production.

Surcie’s hair hates wherever Spanish moss grows. Especially Florida. And Louisiana. Plus Mississippi and Alabama. As well as Georgia (the state, not the Bossy, of course)and both Carolinas.
Oh, man…that sucks about the sunglasses. I cannot begin to count how many expensive pairs I have lost….

My family took a road trip from PA to FL when I was a kid. My mom was all, “Girls! Would you look at the Spanish Moss! Ooh, there it is AGAIN! Girls, are you looking out the window at the Spanish moss???”
Sadly, my sister and I were too busy to look. We were in the back seat, trying alternately not to be car sick or die from second-hand smoke inhalation.
Remind me to tell you about the armadillos.
I’ve only seen Spanish moss on the west coast. Nice to know it’s here on the east coast too.
