Bossy’s Excellent Road Trip. Day Thirty-One.
This is Bossy’s friend Jim, and Bossy took this photo of Jim sitting in the front seat of his restored Opel Manta last summer when Jim’s Opel Manta was the cover story in a car magazine. Raise your hand if you remember:
The reason Bossy is talking about her friend Jim and his Opel Manta is because GM bought the German car company Opel in the 1920s, and these days Opel and Saturn are collaborating on many car designs and who lost Bossy back at Olivia Newton John?
The European influence easily explains many of the cool design features available on the new Saturn models, and who lost Bossy back before she left on her Excellent Road Trip?
Before the Saturn Astra, Bossy had the Saturn Aura. At first Bossy thought, “Eh, sedan.” Because Bossy always thinks in quotes.
But then Bossy got a look at the Aura’s interior:
It was very luxurious and roomy and reminded Bossy of her 1979 Peugeot which was often described as A Touring Car:

Bossy didn’t just love the Saturn Sky, she thinks she may be pregnant with its baby:
The Sky didn’t just hug Bossy, it hugged the road. And the road loved the Sky right back—Bossy has never been in a car that received so much attention: people were shouting from their own mediocre cars. The Sky was economical and it was responsive and who cares if Bossy is maybe an inch too tall to see through the whole windshield? Beheadings are underrated.
I want to have the Sky’s baby …

Would you just shoot that seagull that follows you everywhere already????
Plus, the Sky was loving. I saw it kissing another Saturn in front of katydidnot’s house in San Diego.
While I don’t want to have anyone/anything’s baby, I would, indeed, enjoy tooling about town in the Saturn Sky. Convertibles: all – of – the – way!

I miss our Saturn(s). I used to get so much attention, er, I mean, Comments. Miss that Opel Engine, too. That thing ROCKED.

So not fair! No I’m all… “hmm, maybe I should think about a Saturn..”, but I’m still trying to eke another coupla years out of my already 12 yo car.

Bossy should consider photographing cars for a living…(but she’s gotta shake that pesky seagull) and she can tell Saturn those are some cool hybrids. I might even consider buying an American car again!
The first picture of the Sky a couple of weeks ago sent me straight to the Saturn dealer in Totowa. I purposely left my checkbook at home. I love that Aura, too.
So, I’m assuming that you plan on a Cesarean delivery of the little one? Or maybe just another Andre delivery? Are you hoping for a go-cart or a scooter?
BTW, I absolutely LOVE my Aura! But I will admit to impure thoughts about the Sky.

I think the sky looks like Lightning McQueen!! I am not sold on the Astra. I think you should jack it up with some hydraulics and some bass.
I think I love that Sky. I keep talking about wanting a Hybrid SUV (yes, I know it’s kind of an oxymoron), but now I’m thinking about that Sky.

Can’t believe I met you a few short weeks ago in “Bossy Created Laguna”! Twas only for a short moment in the kitchen in Kristin’s house, but I have now become an ‘almost’ Bossy Stalker! (Sadly that is, in fact, our last name too….so I am finally living up to it.) I have no spare time, but have found some from somewhere and scrolled down your endless entries for the journey cross country. The other option was ordering parts from Toyota…. BORING…

God I love her.
It is not too far afield Bossy when she says that the Saturn Sky may have impregnated her. Look at how phallic it is. It would not to go for a ride in that car and not end up missing your period that month.
Isn’t it about time you gave the seagull a name(seeing as how it’s following you everywhere you go)?

Since Saturn did not ask Bossy to blog on their cars, I think she should have avoided it–at least for the well-being of her readers’ wallets! I MUST have that Sky!
I hope they are giving you a comission based on how many people go into the dealership and say “I want the car Bossy is driving.”
This road trip is making me want a Saturn. You should get a big bonus from GM. I’m just saying.

Ahhhh the Opel.
A neighbor used to buy them, slap on a fiberglass hood that was modeled from a Corvette, add square headlights and paint them colors like Candy Apple Red, with stripes and flames (yes it was the 70’s).
Regardless of how it looked you could still outrun the thing on a bicycle. There’s only so much you can do to make that car look hot.
Actually you lost me once you got into all the car stuff. Mass transit, baby.
What I want to know is what setting does Bossy use on Bossy’s camera to make all her cars look like little toy cars sitting in a little Mr. Rodgers playland world?
Couldn’t stop laughing. Had to lean over and actually do the silent-wheezy-laugh when I got to the bit about you being knocked up by a Saturn.

Once I had a “seagull” of my own in my camera… drove me crazy to see it in the corner of all my pictures. Then one day I accidentally dropped the camera about a foot onto a carpeted floor, and as a result the seagull moved – to a more prominent location in the center of all my pictures!
Then, a few weeks later I accidentally dropped the camera AGAIN – this time from a few feet up, onto CONCRETE. The camera was surprisingly not damaged at all, and I noticed the seagull was completely gone.
As well as that worked out – I do not recommend these methods for seagull-removing purposes!
