A Hump Day Giveaway.
Yesterday Bossy created a little chart of her friends and their random asparagus facts, and many readers expressed an interest in finding out which asparagus fact corresponded to which friend, where many readers equals maybe one person — and perhaps that wasn’t interest, maybe that was a yawn.
So! Back by popular demand! Bossy’s friend/asparagus game! This time Bossy is offering a prize to the reader who correctly matches all three Bossy friends to their asparagus fact!
If more than one person guesses correctly, Bossy will select a random winner.
The prize? Bossy would love to buy the winner a Microplane Zester Grater. Bossy realizes it’s not an X-Box or a camera or a printer or a pair of gah forbid Danskos — but Bossy thinks the Microplane will change your life nonetheless, and sister mercy one size fits all.

I dunno who said what, and I already have a serious relationship with a microplane and am a one microplane woman…. but it must be said that Martha may shed water weight or groove in her garden, but it doesn’t take a trip to Germany to see that she has some rockin’ hair. That’s all I care about!

I think the photos match up with the descriptions…so Wendy travelled, Eric is growing asparagus, and Martha lost weight. It’s a long shot, but it would be tricky to do that. And I am putting my money (or Microplane, as it were) on tricky.
This reminds me of the scene in The Princess Bride where the two guys are trying to decide which cup of wine has the poison.
I think Bossy is being extra clever by putting the right fact next to the friend and everybody’s matched up correctly as is.

Yep, Wendy traveled to Germany, Eric is a first-time grower (of asparagus) and Martha is familiar with its water-retention benefits — or lack thereof.
OK, I’m going to be the ultra-original one here and say that Wendy lost the weight, Eric went to Germany and Martha’s garden is the source of all that serendipitous asparagus you’ve been coming by lately. I’d mix things up more but I really covet that microplane!

Thanks to the commenters who mentioned asparagus pee so I didn’t have to. I remember being shocked, shocked I tell you, when my very refined mother made an asparagus pee joke once.

I’ve dragged Julia Child off the shelf and dragggin myself into the kitchen. The next thing that crosses these lips is hollandaise sauce and spargel (which I HOPE is german for asparagus!) 10:15 pm isn’t too late for hollandaise is it?

Mmmmm, I *love* asparagus. Have you made asparagus soup? It’s just… oh, heavenly. My husband makes it with the ends of the ‘gus, the ones that snap off, and a bunch of cream. Asparagus is also great when cooked on a George Foreman grill!
Okay, on to the meat of this little message… Eric ate asparagus in Germany, Wendy lost 3 lbs. eating it and it made her very happy, and Martha, who rocks the pink hair, has got little green shoots of it coming up in her garden. I really would love to drink gin from the cat bowl with you ladies someday!
