Citizen Cope, Sideways.

Two years ago, Bossy saw this song performed live at a free afternoon concert, of all unlikely stories. And many other songs too, and Bossy has a little secret to share that won’t be very popular with Mr. Cope and his mother — Bossy doesn’t love Citizen Cope and here’s why: Bossy favors dynamics within a song and especially within a live set or recorded album — ups and downs and twists. But Citizen Cope is more flat line, no matter how pleasing that flat line can be.

Case in point: this song, which turned up in a Netflix movie Bossy was watching the other night. Never a favorite, but Bossy gets it. Oh yes, Mr. Cope and his mother, she gets it.
