Big Drummer Boy.
So. Did Bossy ever tell you that her son is Captain of his high school Marching Band Drumline? He is. The other thing Bossy wanted to mention is he’s the Captain. Of the whole Drumline. And yadda yadda drumline. Drumline blah. Anyone want to see a short clip of Bossy’s son rocking the cadence? It’s short. And if you watch until the end you can see him doing Captainy things. He’s the one in the middle. Which is such a coincidence because that’s where the Captain of the drumline stands!

I was in marching band (alto sax). And I used to love the cadence.
And I love the movie Drumline.

I was in the band in high school (color guard) and the drumline consisted of the hotties! The Captain had his choice of the chicks. Good luck with that Bossy!

Love the videos, although I feel your Bossy cover was a little half hearted. Maybe a little more passion next time k? And if Dooce didn’t love us she wouldn’t post anymore. At least that is what I tell myself as I wait for the email that never comes.
Wow Bossy, that was very impressive! The drums are to coolest part of the band and Bossy’s Big Drummer Boy is the CAPTAIN of the coolest part so Big Drummer Boy must be the coolest in the whole band.

I’ve noticed that drumline is a pretty big deal in these here parts, but in other regions of the country? Not so much.
BTW, the Cougars/Panthers/Evil Marmots or whatever, they rock. Especially the captain. Awesome, and I know me some drumline.
I’m proud of him FOR Bossy. I was a perennial Band Geek in a small town with a wimpy band. We had no huge drumline (but the drum cadence was still pretty cool). Drum cadences always affect me against my will — in fact, I am at parade attention as we speak, knees locked and ready to pass out. Someone please release me?

My high school boyfriend was in the Drum & Bugle Corps…I love drumlines! I think I’ve seen that movie Drumline at least 50 times and I hit repeat a lot at the end…

My Dad was the Drum Major in high school. My sister was the Captain of the Majorettes in high school. I always got in trouble for wearing mini-skirts. Whatev.
I loved the movie Drumline. Best part? When one team walks over to the other team and starts playing on their drums! And then turns their back on them and drops their sticks on the ground. You see, I like trouble.
Saucy’s son happens to need a drummer for his band. Too bad we don’t live near each other because that would be NEAT!

Awesome, Kelly was in the drumline in high school, but was only talented enough to play the snare drum (keeping in step was a whole nother ball game)… those were the days… and your sons drumline is like 10 times bigger than mine was… ours was soo small i was like co-co-co-co captain out of about 8… hmmmm… love your posts… and you should be proud of him… is he going to do DCI when he gets out of high school… that would be super cool!!
As a former drum major, I give Bossy’s son an over-choreographed salute that is about 7 seconds longer than it should be and not as cute as it was in the band director’s head.

Way cool! Congratulations on your captain! My daughter is in marching band (flute)and we enjoy seeing the shows so much. But drumline is where it’s all at. Gets my hands tapping and head bobbing every time.

As the wife of a drummer, may I convey how impressed I am. Hubby was just reminiscing about his time in marching band while we watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Apparently horse poop figures prominently in his memories of the experience.

My parents were in bands for years-marching bands,rock bands,country bands,gospel bands, praise & worship bands. They always had this opinion that drummers were lacking in intelligence. Now their baby son is what? A drummer. And their pastor is what? A drummer. And their one and only grandson wants to play what in the band? The drums.I love God’s sense of humor.

Okay, seriously? I’m proud of Bossy because, when I was a band mommy? I was unable to get the effing video camera off my own kid. Seriously. It was an affliction. So now I cannot show these videos to anyone else. Because they are pretty much just my kid with the rest of the band going on around her. So good job. Your kid was actually out of the frame for a couple of seconds there. And he was the CAPTAIN! So there would have been no blame should he have been front and center of frame the entire time. Kudos.
