Weekend Update.
Bossy wants you to know that she appreciates your chorus of support and she has read every word, along with her entire extended family, her friend Jimmy, and her mailman.
Bossy’s day goes a little like this: she checks the graft and rechecks it and applies ointments and repositions the bandage and should it be tighter? Then she checks the graft and changes the bandage and should it be looser? Then some more graft checking, more rechecking, and then a few moments to judge the graft against earlier checks.
Bossy’s daughter’s day goes a little like this:
Mostly the family waits for the surgeon’s word on Tuesday, which is only 2,820 minutes away and leaves plenty of time for graft checking. In the meantime they are grateful for all of your kind words and suggestions and networking and thoughts. And the vodka.
You and your daughter are still in my thoughts and prayers. I’ve been sharing the story to further add prayer fuel to the cause.
Oh how difficult it is when our child is hurt. Definitely hoping that Santa knows that little girls (who are angels, for reals) who get injured – especially while helping someone else – deserve a stocking OVERFLOWING with fun!

I’ve been wondering…I hope the surgeon says exactly what you want him to. Hang in there.
I just got caught up on some of my reading and saw your posts of the tragic event you are dealing with. My thoughts and prayers are going out to your daughter and your whole family. What a scary thing to experience. Please take care of yourself during this…pace yourself. I’ve had to deal with family medical traumas and usually about 3 weeks after the critical part ends your body pretty much yells at you for being so stressed. Please keep us posted and know there are many of your readers sending positive thoughts your way.

Bossy, I am just very new to your site, and I can’t believe I didn’t find it earlier. Not only are you the most entertaining blogger out there, you can tell through your words & your stories that you are an AMAZING mother. Every child needs a mother who breeds creativity and FUN and laughter and love – and even though I’ve only been reading a couple weeks, it’s abundantly clear that your children are blessed with that type of household to grow up in.
So I wish your little girl the very best. One day when this experience is long behind her, she’ll be talking about her amazing Mom and how she doted on her and made her KNOW everything was ok, and that she was loved. There’s nothing more any little girl could ask for!

I have been thinking of her and hoping that she is not in pain as the lip heals….praying one day, when she is in college, she can tell about the dog that bit her, and when she goes to find the scar, nobody will be able to find it….
but then, that reminds me of college, and makes me wonder WHERE IS BOSSY’s SON GOING??

Oh my God, Bossy! I’ve been away and am just now catching up, but my heart is in my throat now. I can’t imagine the awfulness of it all, for you and her. My daughter was bitten by a dog – also in the mouth – a few years ago, and the anger and fright can only be half of what you’re going through now, I am so, so sorry. How terrible. That poor little baby. I will definitely keep her and you in my thoughts. Oh, I hope that beautiful face doesn’t change and that pretty smile stays exactly the same!

There are two things going for your daughter – her age and her smart mom. For what it is worth you can add the prayers and concern from your hundreds of well wishers like me to the list.

Bossy, isn’t it amazing, the strength you find that you never knew you had? Like you just think you could never ever EVER manage to deal with something as horrible as this, but then you DO, and everyone is all, how do you DO IT? And you’re all, what alternative do I have?
