She’s readying the ingredients for Bossy’s daughter’s pumpkin pie crusts:
She’s tinkering with some stuff fresh out of the clothes dryer:
She’s ten minutes from keeping her dirty little Thanksgiving secret for one more year.

I romanticize about large dinner parties like these because I’ve never hosted or attended them. There will be six of us on Thanksgiving and I will be the youngest by at least two decades. And the only gay.

Put the linen napkins under the stack of all the other towels and linens and things. Then have Stella lay on the stack for a couple of hours while the turkey is cooking. Voila! Warm, pressed napkins!
Bossy’s Dane isn’t just Great, she can smell the food a day before it is cooked.
I, too, am hosting fifteen people. But I am taking a break from my attempt to transform this house into an inviting four star restaurant. Trying to create the ambiance. Husband must create the meal ……. got to get back to the transformation. Happy Thanksgiving all !!

I get to get up early and drive 1.5 hours to endure forced in-law merriment. (“Shut up, sit down and eat your dinner, and tell me it’s fabulous, dammit!”) Ah, but! This year, we’re bringing the cosmo’s! And staying over! Things are looking up. Happy Turkey Day!

I know you’re right in the middle of Thanksgiving. However, somewhere between the hangover wearing off and before Christmas, could you give some majorly needed advice?
My Dad’s coming, and he’s bringing his Harlequin Dane!
Any ideas on how to keep a Dane happy and from eating the food off the counter? Would it laugh if I put up child gates to keep it out of the kitchen? I’m already resigned to sitting on the floor while it hogs up the couch. Sort of.

Tip for the brining next year…saw a guy on TV put the brine and the turkey in a ginormous zip lock bag and then put it in the cooler with ice around it. Might save Mr Bossy some clean up time!

Jenn is just about to start the brining and was feeling a little behind since Bossy’s turkey is already in, but then she remembered the East Coast/West Coast time difference and now she’s okay again.

A vodka martini is made with vodka and vermouth.
Adding olive JUICE to either makes it dirty.

Tootsie F, please see Jami’s note above. It also works quite well if you substitute “20 lb. cat” for the Great Dane, but the ironing session tends to last about 5 hours.
