Ten-Word Tuesday. Now With Extra Slaw.

table-setting

The other day Bossy’s husband removed the hateful plastic from the back porch. To celebrate, Bossy’s family of three decided to go out for a lobster dinner! In their dreams. In reality they ordered take-out from their local deli.

You are looking at a Roast Beef Special on Rye with extra Special—which means extra coleslaw and Russian dressing. Note to deli owners: A Roast Beef Special on Rye with extra Special does not mean roast beef with a scant of slaw, just like it doesn’t mean roast beef with coleslaw and Russian dressing and Swiss cheese because there’s no Swiss cheese in a Roast Beef Special and while we’re on the subject there’s no crying in baseball.

Extra Special and rye bread aren’t Bossy’s only requirements when eating this sandwich. She also needs potato chips:

sandwich-and-chips

In this Bossy is very flexible: they can be ruffled chips or plain chips, but don’t even dream of coming home from the deli without a bag of something chippy or Bossy will file for divorce, just as a totally random example. But wait, there’s more:

sandwich-chips, pickle

Bossy requires a couple of deli pickles from the pickle barrel. This does not mean sweet and sour pickles from the jar in the refrigerator, just like it doesn’t mean bread and butter pickles from the jar in the refrigerator. Just don’t even dream about returning from the deli without pickles in a wax paper bag or Bossy will demand full custody of the children, just as a totally random example. And then:

The coup de grace of Bossy’s Roast Beef Special on Rye with extra Special and chips and pickle is a glass of icy chocolate milk. Don’t even dream of returning from the deli without milk or chocolate syrup or Bossy will see to it that you never work in this town again, you wifeless childless totally random example, you.

Bossy can summarize her high-maintenance approach to her deli supper in
this way:

Burp. OK who wants to buy nine of Bossy’s words?

Which is what today’s Ten-Word Challenge is all about. In exactly ten words, can you describe something you eat that has to be accompanied by very specific things, or describe the exact high-maintenance way you order this thing at a restaurant?

And make sure to check back later today for the pickiest pickings on the web.
