Meet The Guard Dog
You are looking at a photo of Stella protecting the Bossy house, where protecting the Bossy house equals cowering at the end of the hallway.
And why exactly is the field mouse dressed as a Mack truck cowering at the end of Bossy’s hallway, you didn’t ask but Bossy will do the asking for you? Here’s why:
This is the house directly across the street from Bossy, and it was recently sold to a contractor who is completely renovating the interior and re-landscaping the exterior — but here’s the way Stella would describe the process of flipping a house in the suburbs: Oh my gah every day with the scary machinery!
Because on this particular day the contractor was breaking up sections of Stella’s sensory lobe and then dropping those hunks down into into her auditory cortex.
But Bossy kids about Stella! She doesn’t always cower in the back of the hallway! No! Sometimes she teeters on the top porch step, afraid to wander around the loud, scary backyard:

But seriously, Bossy is joking, because Stella doesn’t always hover to the left of Bossy’s work setup!

Poor, sweet Stella! Curses to the scary machinery.
Mabel, our dane, wouldn’t put up with the loud noises either. She tends to hide under the covers or sit on our laps when she is scared.
My own personal guard dog Abbie, is at this moment bravely guarding the spot under my desk from the dastardly leaf blower lurking outside.
Hah, our 15 lb Border terrier announces every person, cat, squirrel, bicycle, and blue jay who dares to come within 100 yards of her back and front yard with a high pitched incessant bark. The neighborhood alarm system as we like to call it, the neighbors not so much.
I am so in love with Stella! She is such an awesome dog. She can come cower at..er I mean protect my house anytime! My dogs eat ProPlan too.. Purina was awesome recently with the tornadoes in our area. I called an asked them if they would send food to our local shelter (that was not only taking in homeless pets, but giving food to folks that still had their pets, but lost everything else). They sent me coupons for free bags of food that I took to the shelter. Only one of the other companies responded.
This morning the evil beagle & rescue hound announced to the neighbor hood their displeasure of the Green Trash Truck and the bad men taking our can! Almost dropped my Tea as they were so loud. Good thing the front window did break or we would be seeing White Coat Vet, yech.

Ah yes my lovely aussie shepherd mix howls incessantly at …leaves falling? A cat walking by 100 feet away? Who knows but that INSTANT SHARP BAHHHROOO gets the blind dog in a tizzy, where he jumps up from a sound sleep and knocks over furniture/drinks on furniture/sleeping cats to get to the window to LOOK OUT IT (WTF? YOU ARE BLIND!) and bark with his sister. OY.
Did I just read an ad disguised as a blog post? Meh. Still a good post. Poor Stella looks quite bewildered.
I love my friends dogs and refuse REFUSE I SAY to get one for my own family. We have a Siamese cat and that’s plenty. And she bites so she’s probably better house protection than Stella. And I also want to pitch in that the product placement was classy and perfect and while the internets came down a little vicious (IMHO) about how bossy might or might not be able to support herself with her blog my vote is this works great. Hopefully you got more than $1.63 for it.

I’ve been reading your blog for years–you and I are going through the whole non-divorce thing simultaneously….. I’m actually writing, though, because I love the blue color on your hallway walls–care to share?
1. Photoshop! So that’s how I’m supposed to keep my carpets clean. Thank God I know now!
2. We have hellhounds who bark very menacingly at five-year-olds and miniature poodles, but want to jump into the arms of large, strange men. Makes me feel so much safer.

Aww. Don’t feel bad, Stella. Our dearly departed Hammer, despite being a 100 lb pit-mastiff mix, was no watchdog. His many fears included, but were not limited to: thunder, fireworks, things moving above his head (like curtains and birds), and the cat (whom he let drink from the water bowl first.
Stella! Poor little lady. Maybe you could take her over to eat the bad truck across the street and then she could rest easy.
That was pure stealth at the end there. PURE STEALTH.
This is just Stella’s way of letting you know that evil transforming roboticons are next door and you should be careful. My highly trained guard dogs bark at EVERY single noise – natural or unnatural – to let us know that we might be missing something. I’ve tried telling them ‘The dogs that cried wolf’ story, and they don’t seem to get the message.
