The Family Album Straight Up With A Twist.

old-woman

Here she is—Bert and Jenny’s crazy Old Woman, for she was never mom—standing in front of the courthouse. And what is she doing there? She’s probably marrying a broken man with St. Vitus Dance and two scary teenage sons, of course. Or adopting a random orphan left dubiously in her care. Or filing a complaint against a reputable business, for she was one of the first opportunists to churn the economy with unnecessary lawsuits.

Another way the Old Woman earns money: she holds séances in her living room. Just in case there was a single Crazy within thirty miles who wasn’t already traipsing through her poverty-stricken nuthouse.

A few months after this photo, the Old Woman, her sister, the Old Man with
St. Vitus Dance, his shady sons, a few strays, a possible boarder of ill intent, red-headed Jenny, and Bossy’s 14-year-old grandmother Bert,
the whole works picks up and moves to a row house on Grant Street.

Also living on Grant Street: two eighteen-year-old guys named Fran and Harry. And one day Fran and Harry invite their buddy Walt over to play football on the adjacent sandlot.
