Bossy’s Favorite Things.

Her vegetable garden.

This spring Bossy’s husband picked up the ball Bossy dropped and hi — welcome to Sports Analogy Tuesday. Usually Bossy is all about her tomatoes and tomatoes and tomatoes, but this year Bossy’s husband is growing a few early summer crops such as onions and garlic and lettuce — all which should be harvested before Bossy’s tomato plants grow to shadow them out.

   Basil
   Parsley
   Dill
   Chives
   Oregano
   Zuchinni
   2 types of lettuce
   Roma Tomatoes
   Green beans
   Radish
   Watermelon

   Plants in route to me (I saved by ordering in the winter):
   Tomato Health Kick Hybrid
   Tomato Black Truffle Hybrid
   Tomato Sweet Tangerine Hybrid
   Tomato Black Krim
   Eggplant
   Pepper Tangerine
   Asparagus
   Sweet Squash
   Great pepper

   I’m hoping that some of the tomatoes from the plants will be ripe when the lettuce is.

   Maria: The newspaper acts like a mulch, to discourage weeds and trap moisture in the soil.

   Bossy: I’m jealous of your basil plant. I miss the smell of basil. My basil plants are about a centimeter high at the moment. I may have to break down and buy a plant at a nursery, just so I can sniff it.

   That sounds wrong.

   My basil is not as high as yours either. They came out earlier last year. It must be subatomic radioactive particles alongside my fench line from cow shit holding them back. But, my sage is doing great.

    Bossy, I am really jealous! I waded out into the cloudy weather on Saturday morning and planted tomatoes, fennel, parsley, beets, oregano, rhubarb, and, of course, basil. Then I came back into the house and saw the stack of newspaper that I had set aside to use as mulch…. I was not a happy camper–but I decided it was still lunch time and the newspaper could wait.

    Well, the DC weather has been so cruddy that I have not made it back out there. However, your pictures of your orderly plot have inspired me to get back out there as soon as possible to fix the mistake! Thanks Bossy!
