Bossy’s Favorite Things.

This brush.

Actually with Bossy’s frizzy hair she can’t use a hairbrush, but her daughter sure can, and this Mason Pearson does a great job without breaking the hair.

This is actually a replacement brush for Bossy’s daughter’s original which was purchased at a discount hole-in-the-wall in New York City and provided many tangle-free years before it was left behind on an overnight, or maybe it was abandoned in some backstage dressing room. These days Bossy’s daughter is encouraged to have messy hair in the hours spent away from home.

You can’t tell because Bossy didn’t bother to provide scale in any way because sister mercy is it Friday yet, but this particular Mason Pearson is small.

It was all Bossy couldn’t afford.

   I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE my Mason Pearson brush. I, too, have the small one because after buying the large one and losing it I couldn’t justify the big one. My much older sister (by 22 years) died ten years ago. When I was a teenager and spent the night at her house I could never understand why she wouldn’t let me use her brush. Years later when I was formally introduced to the wonders of Mason Pearson, I understood (and wish she had left me her brush !).

   a great alternative – not quite as good as the original but much, much cheaper – is the sonia kashuk version at target.

   My BFF. I was six, she was five. She had a brush just like this. I always wanted one. BUt my hair doesn’t like them. It’s just to thick, and I’m all OUCH.

   I witnessed just today two men in the parking lot–one sort of conservative looking, the other portly with long hair in a ponytail–and the conservative man handed the portly man a hairbrush looking like this, wrapped in clear packaging. The portly man was extremely grateful but the transaction ended with almost no conversation. I felt like I was amidst a drug deal.
