Bossy’s Favorite Things
The height thing.
For a couple of years, when Bossy’s son was in his mid-teens, Bossy’s husband was all, “You’re really getting tall. Look! You’re almost taller than me,” even when it wasn’t true. And sister mercy, there’d be Bossy’s son, backing up to his doorframe where the Bossy family has kept track of his height for ten years — and most of the time there’d be no change, or maybe he’d even be slightly shorter than the last optimistic marking.
But then one day when no one was looking, Bossy’s son actually did surpass Bossy’s husband’s height. Hah!
BOTH of my sons – the 16-year-old AND the ten-year-old – are taller than me. Didn’t even realize it ’til I saw a picture of all 3 of us together. For some reason, it makes me feel proud, like: look what I made!

My 18 year old niece is taller than me. I’m the shortest in my family at 4′11″. She is almost 6′.
Someone’s going to have to comb his hair a little higher.
It looks like Bossy’s DH is being a little slouched there… perhaps to be the ‘bigger man’ and let his son ‘win’ ?
They say boys can keep growing after high school and through college, so this may not be the end of it.
Sheesh. He makes 6′ look positively diminutive?!?!

–>Bossy’s husband needs to slightly lift up his heels when no one is looking to accommodate. I do it all the time!

Life comes at you fast! Kids shoot up and parents shrink.
In the meantime, we have Dondi and Babe hanging out in the scorching Texas sun.
In our family even our daughter may end up taller than Dad. She’s 5′9 and he’s 5′10–the question is, is she done yet?

Those are two fine-looking tall guys! I always like the crazy blurry thing Bossy does with her photos, it makes the subjects pop off the screen. But in the case of these two, no additional effects are necessary!
Once again Bossy’s son is wearing the fabulous shorts I love.

What a great-looking pair! My 16 year old twin boys want nothing more than to surpass their dad in height. They have already surpassed him in amount of leg hair (think I’m raising two Chia Pets!) I hope they never get close to accumulating his amount of, gulp, back hair, though!
We thought our son was done growing when he measured 6′ at age 18. Then the year he was 19, he grew another 3 in.
Bossy’s Husband’s hand looks tough on his hip, but it is so sweet because it really rests lovingly on his son’s fingers! xoxo
