Bossy’s mom.
Bossy and her mom have been carrying on a love affair for four decades, which is only slightly less interesting than knowing that when they’re around each other, the two best friends giggle incessantly until everyone else has given up and gone home and still they giggle — which is trumped only by the fact that Bossy and her mother were partners in a design business for years and years and they never got tired of spending full days together, which isn’t as important as knowing Bossy and her mom come as a package deal who haven’t lived more than a block apart for nearly all of Bossy’s life, and oh, by choice.

I don’t know how I will ever manage to live life fully after she’s gone… We are just the closest of close!
When I see her tomorrow, I’m going to take a pic of two of us together ~ it’s been too long since we’ve done that.

Oh how I envy your relationship with your mom. Mine is, um, strained to say the least. Most of the time, I feel like an orphan.

I am not sure that I have a decent picture of just me and my Mom–she hated having her picture taken, and I was always the picture-taker.

I feel the same way about my mom. I can’t imagine life without her in it, and even though I am married and have a brother and other family members, someday when she is gone, I feel I will be all alone in the world.

Yep, Mom’s are the best!!! I have a few great pictures of me and mine. She died on 9/11 (not related to the accidents). She was such a warm/compassionate people person that we figured God recruited her for his welcoming committee for all the poor souls taken in that day’s tragedy. She’s in my heart every day and time does heal. Happy to hear you have as good a relationship as I did. It will always see you through hard times……always.
What a great picture. And what a great thing to have such a wonderful relationship with your mom. I hope my daughters and I are like that when they are older. I think we might be. My mother is…um…opinionated, and loud, and um…kind of annoying.
Not only is Bossy close to her mom, she is also her mom’s twin!
Wow. Rare. My mom and my sister are not close like this, and my mom and HER mom were definitely not close like this.
I would be willing to bet that Bossy and her daughter will have the same kind of relationship.
My Mom and I could easily live with each other. She always tells my husband that she is going to kidnap me so we can live together for the rest of her life.

What a beautiful picture of you two. My mom and I were close like that – she was my best friend…she passed away before my kiddos were born – I like to think she sent them to us with a huge hug and a kiss…treasure that relationship – there’s nothing that can replace your momma…
My Mom and I were never like that. I think she wanted to be but she just wasn’t emotionally capable. So now with my daughter I have the opportunity to be the Mother that I needed so much. Here’s to Bossy and Bossy’s Mother!

Aw, you touch my heart Bossy! My mom and I are best friends too so I know exactly what you are talking about. We talk on the phone just about every night (the bitch moved an hour away about 10 years ago). When I found out I was going to have a baby girl, I cried out of joy. All I can hope is that she and I have this same special mother/daughter relationship!

Bossy, I know you know this…but, those money troubles? And the occasional worry over other one-thing-and-anothers? Those mean nothing. Nothing, I tell you, when stacked against the heart-deep feelings you and your fully-wonderful family all share with each other. You’ve got it all, girl — all that really matters, anyway.
This and the comments here made me tear up. I so, so hope my daughter and I will be like this always. It is such a fine line, it seems, between, engaged loving mother and a Smother. I hope I can find the balance.

This is so sweet; like a few of the other commenters I lost my mom entirely too young and I miss her dearly. Your tribute today shows that you obviously cherish her… hold her close; a mom like her (and you, too) is priceless and irreplaceable. Great picture!

She lives right next door and looks like my twin, too. (This twin or sisterly thing works more for the mother and less for the daughter, but we overlook this minor issue thanks to red wine.)
Please bring Bossy’s Mom down south anytime Bossy and she want to get away for a bit. If Bossy happens to strap Kevin Bacon to the roof of her CRV, nobody’d be the wiser.
Bossy, how did your mom do it? What would you say was the most important thing that your mom gave you that nurtured such a strong relationship between you guys? I have two growing daughters and would love to hear your mom’s perspective. How about a guest post! Anyway, you guys are beautiful.

I work with mine, fulltime AND live only one more block away from her than you boss..the 2 blocks make it perfect for the kids to walk there, and for me to know shes still in the house that she grew me up in..
I would NOT be able to live without her, as is obviously the case here. Go boss, and your mama~~
