Bossy’s Favorite Things
Bossy has made a fuss before — right here in these very pages that aren’t pages at all and gah just how unsettling is that — about how lucky Bossy’s daughter is to have all of these cool Aunts who aren’t really Aunts but rather Bossy’s best grrrlfriends.
Well here is just another example: one night last week, as Bossy’s brother and Bossy’s husband and the rest of their rock band rehearsed in the Bossy pergatory basement for a few upcoming shows, Bossy and her mother and her friend Martha were upstairs drinking Cabernet while Bossy’s daughter polished off a few cupcakes and wished aloud that her hair could be cut into a bob.
Well. Before you could count to Cabernet bottle number two, Bossy’s mom was accompanying Martha to her house for her hair-cutting scissors, and Bossy was hauling lamps from the four corners of the house in order to set Martha up with a makeshift salon in the Bossy kitchen.
Now that’s a cool Aunt.
When I was a little girl, my aunt decided to cut my hair. It was awful. My haircut ended up looking like something from the 1940s. You could not even find my bangs because she cut them so short. I was late for school the next day because I didn’t want to go. When I walked into the classroom the teacher laughed at me. I wish my Aunt had been as cool as Martha.
Now that is one cool Aunt Martha!!! Let’s see the new ‘do?!

Bossy’s house may be a breadbox, but she sure has the cutest little breadbox on the block! Aside from how nice Aunt Martha is, I can’t get over how cute bossy’s kitchen is!
I love my girlfriends—but I wouldn’t let them near me or my daughter with hair-cutting scissors! Esp after a cocktail or 12.

I’m just cracking up at the thought of letting any of my posse near my daughters after a second bottle of wine. I love my girlfriends – and my daughters – more than anything on the planet – but wine/scissors – bad, bad, bad mix. My daughters would be bald.
Cool aunts ROCK! I know this because I are one. And I have lots and seriously …COOL
We have two aunties who are hairdressers, so it’s all good.

I love my sister! She is the best Auntie ever and she knows hair cause my little ones will not go back to long now that Auntie “M” cut their hair short! …. and she has cute feet!….

And speaking of things we wonder about (like: what BD’s hair went, and exactly what’s in that stainless pot on the floor that Stella’s heading toward), did you ever disclose what Halloween get-up the clever BD finally settled on? Am I just missing episodes (sort of like a “page”) or are you skipping details? It’s probably me.
The stainless steel pot on the floor is actually a glass on the table. Optical illusion.

Wow, you’re brave! Not sure I’d let anyone near my girls hair w/ scissors after a few glasses of wine! Can’t wait to see how it turned out. Although Bossy’s daughter would be adorable w/ any kind of haircut!
