Bossy’s Favorite Things
Vodka martini, dirty.
Sister mercy, have you ever discovered something you were both happy about and a little distraught? Such is the case with this cocktail, which Bossy has never ordered because Bossy’s mom and dad are all, “There is no such thing as a vodka martini, only gin.”
But Bossy has never been that much of a gin lover, and you can fill in the blanks, blah blah, vodka martini dirty, my, where did the day and night go?
There is no vodka in a martini. However, I approve of that drink Bossy has in front of her, whatever it is!

Has anyone ever used the argument that it’s in a frickin’ martini glass? It’s a martini!! Gin Martini, vodka martini, chocolate martini – whatever. I just drink it for the olives. Well…not the chocolate martini…
Extremely filthy Grey Goose martini’s are my all time favorite cocktail. However, I should never order them at the END OF AN EVENING, where end = why am I half nekkid and sleeping in my guest bedroom?

I love vodka martinis…gin tastes like toilet cleaner to me. I’m more of a “with a twist” than an olive girl, though.
Belvedere vodka with bleu cheese stuffed olives. More olives than vodka please.
Dirty Ketel One vodka martinis are proof that there is heaven on earth. Gin is icky!
Nothing spells trouble like a big glass of vodka. martinis make me stupid, where stupid equals beautiful and cunningly clever.

Neither vodka nor gin for me, gin tastes like what I imagine poison hemlock to be.

I’m not much for gin and not much for the various flavored martinis either. Chopin vodka martini, extra dirrrrty. Chopin is a potato vodka and extremely smooth. Doesn’t get any better than that.

I tried one once (with a top shelf vodka and everything) and all I can say is “yuck.”
If Bossy doesn’t care for gin, why is the cat bowl always filled with it? Doesn’t the cat deserve the same thing Bossy would drink?
I’m old and yet I still agre with WordWire above. What IS it about martini glasses? It’s freezing cold right now and I was all happy to stay by the fireplace all day and night today, but now…..
I would drink poison hemlock if it tasted like gin. Well you know what I mean.
Gin is good, but only when served with tonic and lime. I am fully aware that there’s no vodka in a gimlet, but I’ll take a Grey Goose gimlet over a martini anyday.

Did I see Tequilla Martini written here? And what the heck does dirty refer to anywhay> We califoniaiananans drink wine. But I’ve now a hankering to try a martini for the Holidays… any flavor… any suggestions?
What makes them dirty?
Not a big fan of vodka UNLESS there’s a bunch of Bloody Mary mix, horseradish, celery, olives, Worcestershire sauce and whatever else is laying around mixed with it.
Now THAT is my kind of drink….I think Bossy and The Zadge would really have a good time together!

A gin martini is the whole point of being an adult. (And a ‘gin martini’ is reduntant.)

What makes them dirty is the splash of olive juice (and the fact they taste dirty)–try gin with good ruby red grapefruit juice and a stick of trio jalapeno, blue cheese, and a pimento stuffed olives. Sinful!
Be sure and salt the rim for the salty dog effect!
A margarita made with rum would not a margarita be. A proper martini is made with gin. At least in this household.
Since gin makes me want to die, I’ll stick with vodka.

Gin and I broke up in college. Dirty vodka martinis sipped at a cool bar with soft jazz in the background, ahhhhhhhhhhh, heaven.
