Bossy’s Favorite Things

Artichokes. Bossy loves them steamed and dredged in butter with some lemon, but she’ll take them anyway she can. And here in Northern California they are so plentiful and fresh, they sell at Farmer’s Markets ten for a dollar.

   vuboq: they are easy peasy to cook! cut off top, trim off thorns w/scissors, put in steamer and steam for 45 min. dip in melted butter or mayo, or hollandaise…. I used to live in Northern California and I miss cheap arties this time of year…here in Nova they are $2 a piece.

    And Steven, I’ve never bothered trimming the thorns. Just steam ‘em for 40+ minutes and they’re good to go.

    JUST made these—stuffed with breadcrumbs, romano, spices a little lemon juice and EVOO–steamed to perfection……even my 3 year old loved them….I only WISH I could get them 10 for a buck! Yummmmmmm….

    That would be close to Hollister or Watsonville, I’m guessing. Up here in the North Valley they’re not cheap. But SOOO good, anyway.

Mom would cook them up for us, stuffed with garlic, plenty of olive oil and a pinch of salt & pepper. Then, dad & I would chow down on them at the kitchen table with a little homemade Italian vino – mmmmm!
