Bossy’s Favorite Things

Boiling water to wash one’s face when camping. Don’t get Bossy wrong, she likes to rough it outdoors, where rough it equals packing a trunk full of downy white washcloths for the evening face wash.

After dinner and after the dishes are done and after the dip in the lake and after the inevitable freeze following the lake swim and after the blaze of fire built to warm the chattering teeth and after the s’mores — then it’s time to heat the water to a near boil over the open flame.

Then Bossy and her daughter take turns dipping their washcloths into the water and — ouch ouch ouch — wringing them out until all that remains is hot steam. Yum.
