Bossy’s Favorite Things
Picnik, the new photo editing website.
Here’s what happened: Bossy was stalking a friend’s daughter on Facebook, because Bossy had nothing better to do, where nothing better to do equals everything better to do. And in her stalking, Bossy stumbled upon a reference to Picnik, because these kids today know everything.
So Bossy checked it out for herself and is here to offer two gigantic and slightly absurd thumbs up. Here’s how it works: you upload a photo to their site and then fix and mess with that photo and then save it to your desktop. It’s like Photoshop, but without the Photoshop price tag.
As an example, Bossy uploaded the following photo of her cousin:
Bossy selected the exposure button and messed with that, then she messed with the sharpen feature, and then she clicked on the create folder and tried out a few of their photo actions for effect. Bossy doesn’t remember exactly what she did, but the end result is pleasing on the eye. Or maybe that’s just Bossy’s cute cousin who is pleasing on the eye:
It looks as though many editing features are only available if you have a membership, but try Picnik for yourself and tell Bossy what you think.
As your web developer i would like to apologize for not bringing Picnik your your attention sooner. FYI – it is also part of FLICKR – so if you choose to edit your pics in Flickr – it takes you to Picnik. If you are a pro member of Flickr, I believe you get more if not all the Picnik options…

I am glad to know that I am not the only mom who stalks her kids’ friends on Facebook. Since my kids have locked me out of their message page, it is my only way to find out what is going on in their sweet lives!

I’ve been using Picnik for about a year, I like how it gives you the options to save to all the media sites. It’s totally user friendly too. Photoshop is scary.
I have also been using Picnik for about a year. I think the membership price is totally worth it. I LOVE it.
PhotoShop is great for some things, but I love Picnik, especially for easy things like adding a vignette or a border to the image.
I’ve seen some perfect “specimans” in my lifetime, but I swear this sweetie beats all. Nothing about my nephew that needs editing!
I know. Beside the point. I live in that OTHER world.
I am a new member of picnik and love it! It’s definitely worth the small membership price. It is so user friendly and the options on collages are great which is primarily what I have used it for so far to post groups of travel photos on my little family blog.
Love Picnik! I’ve been a member since they were testing. It is the best thing on the internet since sliced bread. (So to speak.)

I just tried it on one photo. Not too bad! Lots of options! Still miss my photo editing program that came with my Windows 98. It was the best yet. Thanks for the tip Bossy! I will certainly start shooting more photos now again!!!
Farty misses his high school darkroom, sigh. Not so much the smell of ammonia, but the solarization, under-expose, over-expose, double-expose, nylon mesh over the lens etc.
Doing it all with point-and-click doesn’t have the same appeal.
