Bossy’s Favorite Things
Winging it in the kitchen.
In the case of the above photo, Bossy is talking about this berry tart she made without a recipe. Well past dinner, Bossy was drinking wine and watching Project Runway when she got an intense desire for a piece of strawberry rhubarb pie. Lacking rhubarb — and just about everything else including patience — Bossy went to the store and purchased some blueberries and blackberries and strawberries. And by that Bossy means she sent her Unhusband to buy them.
Then she combined the berries with some sugar and some lemon juice and some cornstarch and some cinnamon and let it assimilate while she waited for her frozen puff pastry to thaw.
Next she rolled out one piece of puff pastry and poured the berry stuff into the center lengthwise and folded the puff pastry like a storybook to contain it. Into a 425 degree oven it went and Bossy took it out when it was golden brown.
And that’s about as technical a recipe as Bossy will ever communicate. It was fantastic, try it!

Bossy comes after my heart with her technicalities. I can’t wait to give this a shot some evening when the movie on streaming netflix needs a round of fruited goodness to even out the popcorn’s edge.
Yum! So, if my husband gives me “the look” when I ask him to run an errand for me, I can’t imagine why Bossy’s Unhusband is “un”. I’m sure you have your reasons but a man who runs to the store when I have a whim would be a keeper.
