Yesterday Bossy spent the day at the beach riding waves, sleeping under the umbrella, reading in her low-slung chair, dodging the beach tag lady, eating steamers, and driving home, sandy, in the car.
What a lovely little getaway. I start to feel hot and sticky and slightly gross simply thinking about the beach. I’m more of a mountains kind of lad.
What’s the beach tag lady?

I’m with vuboq: (a) about the beach tag lady and (b) less than enthused about sticky salty sandy beach experiences. Add a sunburn to that, plus creeping traffic that doubles the hourlong drive home, and you get the few trips to Galveston that talked me out of doing beach stuff there.

And yes, some beaches require beach tags to defer the cost of maintaining the pristine sand and other expenditures like lifeguards. These beach tags can be purchased for the season, weekly, or daily. Well worth it. Which is why cheap-ass Bossy dodged the beach tag lady who walks around and checks that everyone has one. Doh! Maybe Bossy wasn’t dodging, maybe she just felt the need to jump in the waves every time the lady came near.

In Maine MUSSELS are steamers? Never heard of that growing up in New Engand. They were always soft shelled clams – not little necks or anything like that.

In Massachusetts the beaches are free of Beach Tag Ladies…BUT they charge you to park your car. ALOT. It’s always something…
