Yet Another Little Known Fact

Bossy’s mom is queen of the cool vignettes. This display was set out for a dinner party. Cheap vase and candles courtesy of Ikea. Snow-covered bushes in the background courtesy of Gah.

While we’re on the subject of this cool vignette, a word of advice: never light more than one freestanding candle, in an Ikea vase, at a time because the wicks will become one and start a small house fire.

   I so liked these on the table in that one other post. “One other post” means I’m too lazy to go reference it. But it was a week or so ago….candle wicks…candle schmicks. One KNOWS that one can’t have beauty w/out some sacrifice!

   Even when I KNOW how UNFUNNY a near fire really is (sorry, Bossy’s Mom). My BIL and family almost got killed when one single candle failed to blow out completely after a dinner party the whole family had attended at his house… the fire started on the second floor verandah of their three story house. They were asleep on the third floor. Thank the lord for a neighbourhood kid who was having a late-night party in a park nearby. They got out. But we all felt nauseous when we checked out the damage the next day.

   Maybe that’s a nervous giggle I have? I hear those battery powered candles are quite cool these days…

   ..or like when you bent over to blow the small fire out, you singed all you perfectly manicured, umm, well coifed, ummm highly teased and overly hairsprayed hair ALL OFF..well, except for the sides and the back..no SHIT! lucky I was intoxicated and close to the cool cats with the ice bucket. the 80s were the BEST!

    Which is why I always invite a firefighter to any party at which candles will be burned!

    Of course, after you have that lovely vahz filled with melted wax, Bossy and her council can all line up for brow waxes! Poverty party friendly!!
