All Aboard The Crazy Train.

This is Jeff Lewis, and he’s the fastidious star of Bravo’s reality show Flipping Out.

It goes like this: Jeff Lewis makes his living purchasing properties in Los Angeles, with names like Ben Lomand and Commonwealth and Valley Oak and Nottingham. Then he fixes up these properties and places them back on the real estate market for resale. This is called flipping.

This is also called flipping:

Jeff Lewis is a bit of a perfectionist with a tangle of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. This means he doesn’t just dislike the newly purchased drapes, he hates the drapes. He hates the drapes, hates the drapes, worries over the drapes, hates the drapes, hates the drapes, oh my gah the drapes, worries over the drapes, hates the drapes, hates the drapes, hates the drapes, are those the drapes? Never mind, the drapes are fine.

Jeff is not alone in his business—he also employs executive assistant Julia Louis-Dreyfus Jenni Pulos.

I have often told my family that if they wake up one day and I am gone, I have taken a job with Jeff Lewis or Kathy Griffin. I’d have to wear Depends because I would be laughing all day! (Bossy, you make me laugh out loud, as well).

    I was complaining (read: ranting) about a hideous haircut on one one of Bravo’s other shows and he threatened to block the channel. I reminded him that blocking Bravo would block the “Insane Gay Flipper Dude” who he loves.

    Yeah. Bravo is still available in our house.

    I recently discovered this show and it’s hilarious! It’s like watching a train wreck. You just can’t look away. I think I sucked my hubby in while watching reruns of it yesterday. Jeff Lewis is not only the conductor of the crazy-train, he might have invented it.

    Owning a small business myself, when I see shows like this along with other insane property flippers (Montelongos, I’m looking at you), I have to wonder what their financial books look like versus their on-air business persona.

    Jeff looks like a wackjob perfectionist, but in the few episodes I’ve seen, cash flow always seems to be a huge issue. As is having a stable of reliable subcontractors. I might suggest those are more important to a business than freaking about the drapes. Or coffee. Or lemonade.

    Aimee nailed it, as did Kenyatta – I’d like to see Bravo follow him into his lawsuits and bankruptcy proceedings, just so the audience could get the full frame of crazy.

    This show is one of my favorite guilty pleasures! And I loved your cartoon at the beginning. I have been trying to explain that scene to my friends and I never get it right, but the crazy comes across well. Jeff seems a little more controlled this season, but he still brings the OCD.

But see, you people who refuse to watch it because you think he’s a yeller, you are missing out. He doesn’t yell, he’s actually very sweet. Don’t you think, Bossy?     Oh, I’m so glad you mentioned,drew, expounded upon the benefits of this show! It’s mesmerizing. Except…I hate that Bravo teases what’s going to happen after the commercial, and then we see the same 30 seconds of footage after the break. It all takes up way too much valuable “content” time. If I had Tivo, I’d be able to skip forward. But I’m afraid if the cable company was really able to keep track of what I watched, there’s be no PBS to turn to when I get back to watching it.

    Modern day therapists might diagnos him with Intermittent Explosive Disorder.

    Others could easily label him as, “manic”, “narcissistic” or just plain old “controlling”.

    Any way you look at it, the guy needs some serious help, which could include a rest at Bossy’s house with her bottle(s) of wine.

    BTW, You did a nice artistic rendition, he looks very nice as an African-American.
