It’s Time For Another Episode Of: Everything I Know About Fall Trends I Learned From A Blog Buried In The Recesses Of An Unfashionable Suburb.
Bossy doesn’t like to shop and she hasn’t left her house in two months and she doesn’t peruse fashion magazines and she watches rented DVDs of last season’s television shows—which makes Bossy uniquely prepared to present: The 2008 Fall Fashion Trends.

4. Fringe on handbags, on footwear, on sweaters, on scarves:
5. Fringe stuck on things you didn’t think possible:

8. Layered textures and patterns. Otherwise known as Vent Man, circa 1985:
9. And while you’re at it, toss all your low-waisted trousers and buy
high-waisted trousers.
10. And dump all your snug tops and buy maternity wear.

Short waisted (and fashion oblivious) me is clinging to the low waisted trousers like nobodies business, but big busted thick through the middle me embraces the gut concealing maternity tops with unmitigated glee. Yay for big shirts!
Don’t like bubbles, fringe, high waists, or pencils. Me thinks I’m screwed for fall.
However, our high school’s colors are purple and gold, so I’m in like flynn on that one…if purple t-shirts emblazoned with school pride count.
Ok, so I’m just screwed for fall.
How will I ever survive?
I wrote about this on my blog before: I’m not getting the gist of 3/4 length sleeved COATS! Doesn’t that entirely defeat the purpose of a coat??? To keep your ARMS warm?
I may or not be wearing one of the said purple emblazoned prideful t-shirts right now. Does that make me fashionable, even though it’s with low waisted jeans and hiking boots?

There is no fashion on the planet where I live. Every day my work outfit is black dress pants, a white blouse and black Birkie clogs.
This is perfect, since I don’t have the body for fashion.
My inner hippie is lusting after those brown suede boots with the fringe.
I prefer to go with the no-pants style.
Well, as usual, I am completely unfashionable. My fall wear is jeans, nondescript solid color shirt and sneakers.
…Yeah, I’m like that too Bossy. Not into shopping and when I do shop I like to shop online, I still don’t own a pair of boot cut jeans and don’t have one item to my name with fringe. So fashion diva? Um, not so much… ;o)

Women get S, M & L. Where L = it might fit your basic 14 year old skinny chick. ARGH!
I am soooo fashion conscious! I am wearing (take notes now) jeans, properly faded, as they are probably 4 years old, cuffed at the bottom because I’m stylishly short, a shirt WITH collar–take that you casual Fridays people!… socks that almost match, and very stylish Nike’s.
Oh, and underwear, boxers today.
Nothing ever changes in Men’s Fashion! So boring.

I tremble at the mentioning of the word “fringe.” The purse scares me beyond words.

That’s the law of fashion… what’s “in” this year, the opposite is “in” next year!
First it’s A-line skirts, now pencil skirts. Then low-waisted pants, wide and wider, now, skin-tight fitted pants preferably with a high waist. First it’s unconstructed or long jackets, now jacket have to be shorter, cropped even, with seams and shape.
Just don’t even get started with fashion, it’s all part of keeping women down. Young women spend all their money (earned at 75% of what the men make at the same jobs) on fashion, manicures, hair care… etc.
Whew~ Bossy really hit on a topic I can go off on !

There are going to be so many Bigfoot sightings with those fringed gladiator sandals. As if gladiator sandals weren’t bad enough all by themselves.

Ye should include bandanas and skull thingies and… um… peg legs for International Talk Like a Pirate Day. So we can dress like pirates too.
I hate giant buttons! And fringe! I’m a biker and I hate fringe. I turn my nose up at bikers with fringe-y anything, which is sometimes EVERYTHING they’re wearing, plus their seat, saddlebags and handlebar grips. Seriously, do NOT want to be seen with them.
High waisted pants? Yeah, “Mom jeans” are REALLY stylish. Yuck. Except I guess the mom’s themselves will be happy that their daughters aren’t going around with their ass-crack showing. It’s all a conspiracy.
I love the pencil skirts but I have decided to opt for the opposite trend that is occurring which is the huge pleated Dirndel type skirt from the late forties. It makes me happy to not have to buy special underwear to accomodate this.
I am also happy to see the skinny pants and low waists go out. Seriously. Most women about 13 have HIPS.

I’m with Clickmom all the way. For gals like us (short-waisted, largely boobed and a bit thick in the middle)….those low rise pants are a little slice of Heaven right here on earth.
Natural waisted pants for us equals a waistband around the ribs and that’s a big ole hunk of Hell right here on earth, lemme tell ya!

I think those big button short jackets = clown clothes. Just sayin’.
Although I don’t think highwaisted pants look good anyone unless you are really, really thin, I will be glad to stop seeing women’s cracks!
And I am thrilled to see all the purple in stores. I jsut wish everything wasn’t cut/styled for someone way smaller than I am.

Yeah, those are great for hiding rolls, but only if you are standing still! Start walking and that extremely lightweight fabric clings like, oh…nevermind. It’s jsut not pretty.

Someone please tell me when partially-stained, oily t-spot, mommy-frump will suddenly be the rage? Because then and only then will I feel fashion forward.
My hubby is crying over the loss of low waisted pants. He loves him some butt crack since he doesn’t get to see mine because I buy pants with a sensible waist. Not up to my rib cage but sensible. And they call them pencil skirts because you have to be as skinny as a damn pencil to look good in one. And what is up with the big buttons and fringe? Try replacing one of those beasties when you lose one and the only thing at my house with fringe is the Swiffer and you know what I do with that…hehe.
Oh, yeah. And maternity wear is great for me since I’m preggers now. Yippie!!!

I was purple, when purple wasn’t cool. Sigh. Now I’m just a follower.
First rule–if it makes a 6 foot tall, 115 pound young woman look dumpy, it will not work on 5′6″ definately NOT 115 pound me.
Second rule–I’m not 19 years old.
Third rule–coats with short sleeves and wide open collars were not designed by anyone who actually lives where it gets cold.
Fourth rule–”fashion” is what you make it.

Personally, I like the maternity style for 2 reasons:
1. stretchy (read: skin tight) shirts don’t look good on anyone that isn’t super skinny (not skinny = me).
2. I like this style on my 8-year-old so I don’t have to worry about her midriff showing.
F-ck it. I’m getting a sex change.
Looking that over: I admit I fell prey to the large button jacket. Oh, and my husband appreciated the fashion industry going easy on him for yet another year of pants and shirts.
