Bossy’s Totally Detailed Review Of The 2009 Oscar Picks.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Bossy didn’t see this film, but she knows from the above movie poster it’s the story of a man who lives his life backward, beginning as an aging Jon Voight and progressing through time until he becomes his son-in-law Brad Pitt. Three stars.
Frost/Nixon. Bossy isn’t sure if this is a movie or a recipe. One star.
Milk. Again with the recipe. Two stars. And those two stars are Sean Penn and Josh Brolin.
The Reader on Revolutionary Road. Nearly a decade after her affair with a teenage boy during World War II, Kate Winslet moves to a Connecticut suburb with Leonardo DiCaprio after their ocean liner capsizes. Four stars.
Slumdog Millionaire. This is the story of an Indian teenager who wins the Hindi version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and then is suspected of cheating the other Oscar nominees by sweeping the Academy Award categories at the last minute. Five stars.

These nominations remind me that it has been a very long time since I saw a movie.
I think “Frost/Nixon” sounds like a movie about an assassination attempt on the president.
Thanks for the bossy stars… I really want to see Revolutionary Road and Slumdog Millionaire, the others can wait until DVD.
I like Bossy’s Oscar pics better than the real ones. Bruce Springsteen was robbed and Slumdog should win it all.
I never go to see movies, but I somehow always knew what was new and buzz-worthy, but somehow that Slumdog Millionaire totally caught me by surprise at the Golden Globes, and now it goes and wins the Golden Bossy, too.
I haven’t seen any of them, but is anyone else curious how Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio have managed to not age a day since Titantic. Did Dick Clark pass on his secrets or what?

Slumdog Millionaire has made my Top 10 movies ever list. To say I love it is to be very understated.
I’ve heard Benjamin Button described as “Life is like a box of digital effects.”
I loved Slumdog Millionaire! I don’t think I’ve seen anything else but Dark Knight, and while that was fun and Heath Ledger was fantastic (sob) the movie as a whole was….not so much.
And despite the fact that I heart Brad, Benjamin Button just strikes me as another boring “cosmetic aging” pic. Kind of like Little Big Man, if you are old enough to remember. And wasn’t there some other pic recently where a popular actress did the whole Aging Makeup thing? Bo-o-o-o-ring.
Give me some Bollywood!

Want to see Slumdog on big screen; Benjamin B at home where I can go to bathroom and raid refrigerator during its three hour length.
Looking at the wrinkly photo of Brad made me wonder: did he look at himself in the mirror on old guy makeup days and say, “so that’s what I’ll look like when I’m old!” or say “no way am I looking like this, taut Robert-Redford face here I come!”
We saw Button, thought it very good. Nixon? hey, we just got rid of Bush.
Sadly, I haven’t seen any of these movies…and I go to the movies every week! The only one that has played locally is Benjamin Button, and I don’t care to watch someone get younger while I get older.
I want to see Revolutionary Road today, then I will go see Hotel For Dogs next week with my CA grandkids…because last week I took my TX grandson to see Mall Cop. Do you see a pattern? Silly movies will never win anything, but it allows Grandma J to laugh like a friggin hyena.
Seriously, I found Doubt, Gran Torino and The Changeling to be fabulous and obviously unappreciated by the industry.

Why can’t the Academy ever nominate movies that I watch? Like HellBoy and Iron Man? Sure, Dark Knight got the nod, but someone had to DIE to get their attention. Sigh. I bet The Watchmen gets passed over next year…
I’m hoping for Milk. I was really moved by Sean Penn’s acting. Plus I live in San Francisco so I’m hoping for a win. I loved Slumdog so I won’t be dissapointed if that wins a few too!!
I wouldn’t have even heard of Slumdog Millionaire if a teacher I work with hadn’t mentioned seeing it.
But I’ve seen Milk, and OH MY GOD, IT IS AMAZING. It deserves more than two stars, Bossy, I promise.
I cant believe Kevin James was snubed in the best actor catagory for Mall Cop. This is an outrage!
They have released Slumdog on a large scale here today. I thought I’d about missed its run and was thinking of going to the other side of town to see it.
We did go see Benjamin Button and liked it very much.
I saw Slumdog Millionaire and it was just so. sad. I like happy rainbow sunshine movies. The sad? Not so much. Don’t let that happy dance at the end fool you. Children in peril= can not enjoy.

I’ve seen BenjaminButtonboy, The Reader and Slumdog Millionaire…..Slumdog wins by a land slide. Well in my world anyways! I do want to see Milk though.
I was hoping for Paul Blart: Mall Cop. The acting, the drama, the special effects…just WOW! Must have not made it out in time.
With the exception of Slumdog, I think this is a bleak year of Oscar nominees.
And I have not seen most of them because my college daughter introduced me to a certain website. That would just be wrong.
I trust Bossy for all things, including movies. I seem to remember movies. I have a vague recollection of sitting still in front of a huge screen Hoovering popcorn. Now I just do that in front of a desk-top monitor, clicking from one blog to another frantically and obsessively.
In addition, furthermore, and in conclusion, Grandma J’s(#17) last two lines made me laugh.
I haven’t seen ANY of the movies nominated so I’m just gonna take your word for it.
For a minute I thought the Kate Winslet photo was Bossy in uniform. You and Kate could be twins.
Thought Ben Buttons was good but it did not NEED to be 3 hours.
I’m not going to even bother watching all of the movies now.
Nothing can live up to your review.

Milk deserves three stars: an additional star for having Diego Luna in it. Just try saying his name out loud, while looking out the window, in a manner both quiet and dreamy. Di-e-goooo Luuuu-naaaa. It’s fun. And he’s hot.
You’ll be happy to know that somewhere in between Jon Voigt and hot Brad Pitt he does a little Robert Redford. It’s not as wacky in the six degrees department, but it does give me hope that we’ll get to ogle Brad Pitt for a good long time.
Haven’t seen ANY of these movies. However, that photo from the “Milk” movie seems to be just a picture of noses. There are a LOT of noses in that picture, some of which are rather spectacular noses.
