Meet the family! The family of Dreyer’s Shakes and Smoothies — even though in Bossy’s supermarket they are called Edy’s Shakes and Smoothies:

But Bossy is getting ahead of herself. You see, recently Bossy’s friends at Edy’s Shakes and Smoothies asked Bossy if she’d like to taste test a few of their flavors, and Bossy said no she couldn’t possibly.

And so one blisteringly cold day in July, Bossy gathered a few professional taste testers:

Earlier that day, Bossy purchased a line-up of flavors in both the Edy’s shake and smoothie category and, after the girls had been swimming for approximately a bazillion hours, Bossy let them have at it:

Here’s the deal: Edy’s Shakes and Smoothies are prepackaged and found in the freezer section. But how can that be, you may be asking, when shakes and smoothies revert to ice-cream texture in the freezer?

Well Edy’s solved this problem by having you add milk and stir to reconstitute the proper shake consistency.

Bossy’s friend Bobo, who was standing on the sidelines, raised doubt over the inconvenience of adding milk, but Bossy thought she’d try to muscle through this hardship.

First up, Bossy’s favorite niece selected Cookies n’ Cream. Note to self: Is this the same as cookies and cream?

Next, Bossy’s other favorite niece selected chocolate:

While Bossy’s daughter, always a culinary pioneer, chose chocolate.

The next thing Bossy and her test pilots did was measure out 1/3 cup of milk and pour it into each tub:

The first problem occurred when Bossy’s favorite niece discovered it was difficult to mix the milk with the frozen ice cream within the provided container without spilling:

The next problem occurred when… there was no next problem! Because Bossy and her researchers discovered the fine print on the side of the Edy’s Shakes and Smoothies package!

Still there were a few residual messes:

And so what was the final review?

review-comments

Bossy tried both the Chocolate Shake and the Sunrise Blend Smoothie, which consisted of a combination of peach, orange, and banana.

In Bossy’s final analysis, the chocolate shake tasted like a chocolate shake and the fruit smoothie tasted like a fruit smoothie! Actually Bossy’s fruit smoothie tasted like a melted orange creamsicle, which is a compliment of the highest order.

In addition, this product saves on time and effort because, when craving a shake or smoothie, one doesn’t have to scoop or get out a blender and then clean up that stuff. If you’re one of those types who worries about time and effort, that is.

To celebrate the summer season, Bossy’s friends at Dreyer Edy’s shakes would like to give one Bossy reader a $100 Visa gift card. Simply leave a comment below, one per person please, telling Bossy about your favorite flavor of ice cream.
