These days Bossy tries really hard not to drive anywhere, as indicated by the above photo, which is Bossy’s thrilling view of her own driveway.
Bossy is trying not to drive anywhere because she obviously wants to save on gas, but also because if she doesn’t go anywhere she can’t buy anything. It’s funny how you can save money when you stay away from banks and stores.
Speaking of cars and bumpy transitions when you make a sudden left leaving your readers with whiplash, Uniroyal Tires became interested in Bossy’s Poverty Party, because they want us debt types to know about their latest online campaign, More Mileage For Your Money.
Through a series of posted videos with their host, Kimberly Danger, Uniroyal provides money-saving advice on things like car maintenance and road trip planning–as well as a range of household topics like coupons, cooking, and holiday preparation.

My wonderful grandmother who lived through the Great Depression in a small house with dirt floors (Note: DIRT floors, not DIRTY floors like those in my house) still saves every twist tie she meets.
Oh I could use one of those! For the first time in my life I have to use my car to commute. What a bummer!

I was just thinking I need to get one of these especially after our son hit a deer with our best car – in the shop now. Thankfully not totalled and thankfully totally covered by insurance.
And there can also never be enough safety vests at least not where I live.

Boy could I use this. Going on two very long car trips by myself (well, except for those 4 kids I’ll be driving) and my van’s battery is known to die on occasion since certain children don’t close the door after exiting and the car is not smart enough to just automatically turn off the lights already. I especially like how the items are nicely put away in a convenient bag instead of the jumper cables just shoved under a seat along with the flashlight (and twist ties?). If I don’t win (and I’m already okay with the fact that I won’t b/c I never win anything) I guess I’ll just have to buy my own neat bag to stow all this stuff.

We could easily add this to the hodgepodge of stuff in our trunk. Which includes notebooks, clothes too small for my kid, trash bags, reusable grocery bags, and trash.
It would be a reason to clean out the trunk so the kit would have it’s very own display case.

I bought jumper cables for all my kids to carry in their cars, two years ago for Christmas. Hsbd already had a set in his truck. Guess who’s car quit at a red light in the middle of three through lanes and two turn lanes, two days after Christmas. Guess who still doesn’t have her own jumper cables. Please pick me!
I’d love to win this for my son. He just bought his first car. He’s already finding out how expensive it can be, what with his tire falling off the other day! Thank God no one was hurt. Seems someone must have tried to steal the nice rims and had loosened all the lug nuts on that one tire.
Even people watching their pennies need to be safe and this is a smart investment purchase. I may even get one for myself as a Christmas gift if I dont win one.

AAA is a great saver actually. You can get 4 free tows a year. The cost of the membership is significantly less than the cost of a single tow. Also they many stores and businesses offer a AAA discount!!

I have no emergency kit, which is a shame, because those twist ties would have come in really handy today when my three year-old ran away in Target. I could have used those flexible little guys to attach said child to the cart by his fingers and toes. Handy, and fun!

Part of my personal poverty party is staying in my old car when I really really WANT a new one.
I especially like the gloves in this kit because, really, have you ever done anything involving your car that didn’t leave your hands filthy?
My husband could use this since he drives from South Jersey to Wayne, PA every day in an 8-year-old Saturn that burns oil, sometimes runs hot, and has 135K miles on it (but it still gets 35+ mpg).

Two weeks ago I finished work around midnight, walked out to my car, and made the disturbing discovery of a totally dead battery. Real friend are those with a) jumper cables and b) a willingness to leave their warm bed to use them.

I’m a terrible driver, and I call my mom and scream into the phone about how the car won’t start or how I’ve driven into a guardrail, or how I’ve hit some ice and spun across traffic and into a ditch and am now stuck and pleasecomehelpmethere’samanwalkingthisway. Never ever do I win random things. But again: it should be me BECAUSE my emergency kit was stolen out of my car in Brooklyn in the late 1990s and I have been unprepared ever since.
