capacitor

You are looking at $156.

It’s $156 in the form of a metal Run Capacitor, which is smaller than a fist and controls the blower fan in Bossy’s heating system. Blower fans in general are something you take for granted until suddenly your family room sounds as bucolic as an Engine Room whenever the heat kicks on. Whoosh. Rumble.

It cost $156 to replace this part, and another $110 for the guy to clean and check the rest of the system. That’s a grand mal seizure total of $276. Lucky thing it’s not a holiday month and that money doesn’t need to be apportioned for gifts. Oh wait.

In any case, the heater blower? It’s still making noise; a noise Bossy’s husband is unable to hear because $276 impairs one’s ability to assess sounds that may cost more money.
